Showed this one to my daughter- a super creative kid with a raging hater monkey stopping her from sharing her genius. She smiled in recognition as she read your post- you indeed made someone smile, and you also shared a deeper wisdom that might just make people more brave. 😊
Wow, thank you so much for sharing! The hater monkey is also usually perfectionism. If it helps your daughter to hear I still experience self-doubt anytime I share my art-- the only difference is that I allow myself to be imperfect and publicly awkward now. I promise you, it pays off to share your imperfect, "bad" art. Anytime I'm scared to share my art I remind myself that I'm being brave by sharing myself with the world. It's a deeply vulnerable position to put yourself in and that's why it's so powerful. I believe in your daughter. I send her all the love!
Not 2016? lol, jk. This reminds me of how anytime someone tells me they're some age younger than me I always think, "that was a good year". But then I'll never think about how I could possibly be currently living a good year. IMPOSSIBLE!
I'm so glad I discovered you and your Monkeys today 🙈 🐵 I like the dual simplicity of yours. Mine come in infinite flavors (I'm making a graphic novel / short film, "Meet Your Monkeys: Make Friends with the Meanies and Imps that Rule Your Mind.") So we're singing a similar song...love it!
Oh, wow, I love that! I'm also working on a graphic novel, but instead of monkeys it's about motherhood. I'm curious, are you making a GN and a short film? How are the two combining that sounds very interesting.
Thanks! I began the GN collaborating with my nibling (non-binary niece), who is no longer available. As a former filmmaker, I wonder if a short film (or tiktok video series?) might be more engaging for my audience: tweens-YA who survived Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)

This is 100% accurate and I loove how you’ve explained it ❤️
Another good one Erika. This one made me nod my head in agreement.
I miss 2022 21 20 2019 18 17 lol

I’m confused lol
it's my bad, i'm responding to a comment of yours that's quite old.
Oh
Reminds me of Robert Mitchum’s “Love vs. Hate” routine in The Night of the Hunter, though I don’t think you’re a serial killer.

Love this! Exploring grammar defiance is the best!
Right?! No one's gonna put me in a grammatical box!
