I'm suddenly imaging you and other cartoonists as models for fashion mags Vogue, Conde Naste, etc ... Ha!

Us cartoonists are always ready for modeling opportunities!

I like all your stuff, old and new. But for the benefit of a clueless grandma, what the heck is HCD? 🤔

Expand full comment

Oh that's my bad, I should have clarified!

It's shorthand for Hourly Comic Day.

I've been drawing HCD for so many years now I got too deep!

Ah, now that makes sense. I thought it was one of those new fangled acronyms that I see on line sometimes and need to google for a translation. The joys of getting old! 🤣

Sweet "T-shirts that speak" post. Great drawings and concepts. Maybe those should become real shirts?

Infertility, adoption, all of that – a mixture of joy and pain. We have friends in the throes of it right now: they are carrying both hope and grief in the same breath.

A lot of people have been asking Katy and I for some of these are real shirts!!!

Honestly... Maybe we should print a couple.

Will keep you appraised, Matt!

I accidentally listened to that song on repeat for 30 minutes straight. Wasn't super-duper paying attention, but the whole time kept thinking, "I really like this music—every track is a good one!"

AW, YES!!!!

Honestly digging back in my old playlists led me to rediscover this song and I'm falling back into it again now too!

I never listened to the whole album before, but now I am, thanks for the review!

This sound feels so 90's to me for some reason.

Like Aqua meets Josie and the Pussycats.

Do you know of any other messy, anti-hero, female-lead stories like this you’d recommend (books, TV, movies)?

Jessica Jones, if you do not mind a little violence...ok, quite a bit of violence..

I loved Jessica Jones!

Loved David Tennant as Kilgrave so much. Maybe too much.

His manipulation came right through the screen and addicted me to him.

I loved "Can You Ever Forgive Me?", and I really wish MM would take on additional serious roles. She is super good.

COMPLETELY AGREE!

I thirst for her to return to these kinds of roles!

I don't look at my old stuff much, that said a lot of it has vanished to time and geography. I admire folks who can maintain an archive to look back on.

My archive is part organized part chaos.

It's hard because I started saving files when I was a teenager so chaos reigned for the early years, haha.

I'm sure I have plenty of art lost to time and rusting corpses of hard drives in junk yards.

My wife plays tennis with the director of that movie! What do you think of her new movie Night Bitch with Amy Adams. They just released the trailer last week I believe.

Marielle Heller?! UM, SO jealous of your wife!

But a little more from my fandom of Marielle's sister Emily Heller who's podcast, "Baby Geniuses" I used to be obsessed with, haha.

But obviously Marielle is incredible-- damn! Your wife must be super cool.

I have not seen Night Bitch, but you can bet I just watched the trailer and would love to see it now!

I straight up was just writing about what it's like to loose your identity to motherhood, so this is wildly pertinent to me right now. Thanks for sharing, Matt!
