As much as ‘election’ is in the title of this post, I don’t really want to talk about it.
I voted last week by mail. I very much hope that you vote too.
I feel incredibly powerless and exhausted by it all.
But I know regardless of the outcome, I must hold onto hope.
When I was young it felt cool to be misanthropic. I don’t know why and I regret that I wasted so many years pretending I was somehow above it all.
Today I avoid the urge to think poorly of humanity. In my experience there are assholes, angels, and everyone in between— beyond that is merely assumption.
Much like other parts of myself I have outgrown, my inner misanthrope will always live on in some diluted form within me.
But I’ve learned to ignore them, because not only is it an inaccurate worldview, it’s a miserable way to live and see the world.
But Hey!
On a cute note, last week was Halloween and I actually put together costumes for my whole family!
Which is shocking given I have been in anxiety paralysis for the past 2 weeks.
Do you know who we are?!
I’m not going to give it away as I’d like to see who knows the reference.
I’ll give you a hint though, it’s a Cartoon Network cult-classic!
Comments (Let’s Chat!):
OK, just to repeat — Do you know who we’re dressed as for Halloween?!
Did you dress up for Halloween?
If so, what as?
Are you voting?!
Please say yes.
Please vote.
Listening to:
Over the garden wall (which I had not seen until you mentioned in a previous post) Classic!!!
I feel you on the election. I voted three weeks ago and decided to working as a voting clerk to give me a away to channel my anxiety. For the past three days and it’s been an inspiring experience to see how many people from so many walks of life come out and really care about voting. Highly recommend everyone does it at least once, so they can see how awesome democracy is when its citizens participate. I feel much better seeing the system in action.
i hope you are well and make all kinds of interesting art out of all this shittiness
...ps adorable family
