June 10th, 2017. My birthday! We went to a lovely park, picnicked, took a hike. Friends and family there. My Dad and I found a gorgeous small suspension bridge swaying over a river and walked onto it together. Then, suddenly, at the same time—as if my osmosis—we became middle schoolers again and faced off against each other like Robin Hood and Little John: jumping and bounding and rattling the bridge to make the other one fall and lose their balance. Neither of us fell—but part of the bridge snapped and we ran away through the woods.
None of that has anything to do with the post, but thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
Yeah, I still sometimes think "whoa, I live in the Bay Area" as if I just moved here recently. I really love it here, and wanted to live here for a long time. Also, I'm a proud BART lover, too. I think growing up in Orange County where there's basically zero public transit made me really appreciate it, even if it's often a mess.
HUGE ON PLAYLISTS!!! I have one for every year!!!
Aren't they the best?!
I'll never understand why so many ppl bow out of making playlists after grade school.
It's the only thing that keeps me on top of modern music.
Do you have any fav songs on your current playlist?
One of my tops at the moment is "OMG" by Suki Waterhouse
i truly cannot stop listening to How Many Times by JJ and the Mood (aka cartoonist Jack Sjogren)
ooohhhhhh I love this, very Talking Heads vibes!
just the agressive finger stabbing at your comic book made me decide to buy it
and the fact you still make videos 🤣
lol, thank you Appleton, that finger stabbing was partial psychosis from illness-- I'm glad it came out well, haha. XD
the psychosis, illness or pending book arrival?
😊
trust your fingers have regained 💪!!!
Hope you enjoy the book Appleton!! :D
ohhh i WILL let you know (shaking finger agressively at you😜)
Aggressive finger stabbing: not just for parenting and protests!
these fingers are weapons of war!!!
duly noted 😵👽
apparently NOT 💪

Happy almost birthday, Matt!!
Honestly that birthday depiction you shared is my perfect idea of a birthday. Especially the suspension bridge part, that sounds magical and so fun.
Nothing beats acting silly with someone you love.
Thank you for sharing your stroll down memory lane, I love it!
Omg where do I find that dolphin GIF?!
and it does that continuous drawing stuff i bet where she never pulls pen from paper!!!
someone's gotta train a dolphin on contour drawing.
What are modern scientists even wasting their energy on anyway?!
to re-phrase dave von ronk "somebody...else...not me!"

This is where I found the GIF!
It is peak silly, no???
Also I was a dolphin girl growing up, so, amazing gif on many levels.

For unsurprising reasons I feel the same exact way, Ben.
The BART was always amazing to be because the OC was so incredibly lacking.
I only took the bus down there one time and it was as a very young kid and I think my mom did it as like... a field trip?
"Look child, it is public transit. Isn't it amazing how the bus only shows up every 45 minutes and can be relied on by no one?"
Heavy Metal Drummer — longtime fav. Looking forward to digging into the others.
Thanks for this fun post. Had no idea what "basic bitch" meant before reading it. Helpful for navigating life!
Heavy Metal Drummer needs to be in the Rock N' Roll hall of fame in some capacity-- it is simply... the best
(I refuse any counter arguments from anyone. If they come for me, they will get an aggressive finger stabbing).
So glad I could assist on the very essential term, "basic bitch"!
It is a label I clearly wear quite proudly.
